For those near Portland, OR: There's a free concert/rally weekend coming up in Holladay Park, sponsored by a pro-family group called Kids Need Both Parents. Be there if you can! I'm still debating whether to drive up from Salem for this; if you are near me and would like to carpool, contact me please. (I haven't been to one of these before so I can't give you more detail than that plus the below update.)

Dear friends and supporters of Kids Need Both Parents,

Our concert is Sat/Sun July 22/23, music noon to 6pm. We just need people to come (bring everyone). There are a lot of trees and shade in the Holladay Park. The fountains will be on for the kids. Lloyd Center is right there to take breaks and cool down when needed. A little extra dietary magnesium and zinc (minerals) help a lot with hot weather electrolyte metabolism (we'll even have some there along with the hot dogs).

For those who want to do more: crew call is 6 am Sat and 8 am Sunday. Partial breakdown is Sat at 7 pm. Security is needed Sat night. Full breakdown is Sunday from 5 or 6 pm until 9 or 10 pm.

Please spread the word that community groups are very welcome to bring a table and chair and have an info booth.

Thank you very much. Take care, Jim Whinston, 503-224-9477

This should make the chickenhawks happy. The rest of us may want to fill our tanks while we can...

Operation Rescue is one of my favorite email sources. Their updates are almost always short, and always to the point. Here's their latest one. Notice how the newspaper story entirely omits the real problem. (This is not unusual for stories in the mass media.)
